Meet our Ministers

Chuck Hochmuth

Senior Minister
Pastor Chuck Hochmuth is a “Cheesehead” by birth, having grown up in Green Bay, Wisconsin exactly one mile from Lambeau Field. The summer following his High School graduation he felt the “nudge” to set aside his early desire to be a band director, in order to pursue what God was calling to him to do in ministry. Chuck received his BA from Lincoln Christian College (Lincoln, Illinois) in Christian Ministries with an emphasis on Preaching. In 2015 Chuck received his Master of Arts in the area of Spiritual Formation from Lincoln Christian University.

On August 16, 1981 he began his first full time ministry with the First Christian Church of Dyer, Indiana, where he worked primarily with children and youth for 7 years. In July of 1988, God prompted Chuck and his growing family to move 20 miles south to serve as the Preaching Minister with the Lowell Church of Christ.

Chuck met Dee, his wife to be, at Lincoln Christian College and were married in 1982. They have three grown children; Mindy (Keith) Wells, Traci (Joshua) Stark and Andrew (Xandra) Hochmuth. They have been blessed with 6 fun-loving grandchildren and 3 grand-dogs!  Chuck and Dee have thoroughly enjoyed their time with the church family in Lowell. When not singing together in worship, Dee can be found working with the youngest of our church family in the nursery and preschool department. Together, Chuck and Dee enjoy spending time outdoors camping, hiking, biking and most recently kayaking.

John Harris

Associate Minister
Big John, as he’s known around here, has served Lowell Church of Christ since January 2004. He is active in our community and school corporation, known also as Coach to several young men and women golfers over the past 14 years. He is a firm believer in, and works toward the pursuit of, every believer using their spiritual gifts to bless the local church and further God’s kingdom around the world.

As a devoted Christ follower, with a heart for shepherding and teaching, John enjoys directing our Missions Committee, training potential and current leaders, and coordinating Life Groups. He values being part of a church body that invests in eternity by focusing on making disciples, who in turn make more disciples, thus fulfilling the Great Commission of Matthew 28.

Prior to coming to LCOC, John and Kim served as missionaries and church planters in Ecuador where John had the privilege of serving as the head coach for the Ecuadorian National Racquetball team. John and Kim both attended Harding University, in Searcy, AR, where they received their undergraduate and master’s degrees.

John and Kim have been married for 31 years, and are the proud parents of three sons - Jordan (his sweet wife, Claire), Noah, and Ben. They enjoy grilling and visiting with family and friends on their back deck, traveling, golfing (mostly walking for Kim), and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. Big John is also an avid fisherman and reader.

Matthew Shedd

Family Minister
Matthew Shedd currently serves as the Family Minister here at LCOC.  He joined the church in 2008, along with his wife Kylie. Since then, they have been blessed with three children.  In his free time, Matthew enjoys reading (especially ancient writings), playing chess (which he happily does poorly), and playing with his puppy, Hershey.
