Service Opportunity with Hope Center

Blanket Tying Event

Each hand-tied blanket is lovingly placed in our Hope Totes, given to those facing cancer.

Date: March 5th

Time: 9:00-12:00

Who is this for: This event is for all ages, young and old*. All are welcome — family, friends, survivors, caretakers, neighbors, co-workers — for our blanket making effort. This event is also a great opportunity for students in need of community service hours!

*children, middle school and younger, MUST have a parent/guardian present. This is NOT a drop off event.

What to bring:

  • TWO, two yard pieces of fleece. One piece will be for the top and one piece will be for the bottom. Keep in mind that we offer blankets to men and women. (Look for coupons from Hobby Lobby and JoAnn Fabrics to save money on the fleece!) Sharp scissors, and/or rotary cutter
  • Cutting mat
  • Ruler

Never made a tie blanket before? No problem! We have veteran blanket-makers who are excited to show you this easy-peasy technique. All ages can help with this! Younger kids can tie the fleece fringe while our more mature guests man the scissors.

In addition to this in person event, we are also accepting donations of fleece. If you can’t make the event, but would like to donate fleece, please bring your donation to the church office anytime, Mon-Fri, 8a-1p.

Lowell Church of Christ is located at 299 Burr St. Lowell.
